Project components — Improving the efficiency of irrigation systems in the Republic of Tajikistan.

1 Component 1

Modernization and rehabilitation of pumping stations

Modernization and rehabilitation of the GNS-1, GNS-2 and DVGNS pumping stations serving large irrigated areas of the Zafarabad district, Sughd region. The component covers construction and installation works and the commissioning of new pumps, electric motors and pressure pipelines; supply of the required electrical and mechanical equipment; automation of electricity and water metering; design and author supervision services; and the services of the supervision Engineer-Consultant.
2 Component 2

Establishment of a mobile mechanized unit and reconstruction of the maintenance base

Establishment of a mobile mechanized unit and reconstruction of the maintenance base (the ALRI vehicle depot), equipped for the servicing and operation of irrigation and drainage systems. The component covers construction and installation works and commissioning of the depot; procurement of new machinery, mechanisms and equipment; design and author supervision services; and the services of the supervision Engineer-Consultant.
3 Component 3

Institutional capacity building

Institutional capacity building of the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation and of the project beneficiaries, including training programmes, knowledge dissemination and other activities aimed at strengthening the human resources of the sector.
4 Component 4

Project management

Project management, including the engagement of a consultant to monitor construction works and to support the PIU in the day-to-day coordination of project implementation.
