The Republic of Tajikistan and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) have signed an Agreement on the provision of an investment loan from EFSD resources to finance the Irrigation Systems Modernization Project.
The Project is implemented by the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), established within a structural subdivision of the State Institution "Capital and Land Reclamation Construction" under the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Project goal
The goal of the Project is to improve the efficiency of irrigation systems in the Republic of Tajikistan.
Key objectives
- rehabilitation and modernization of pumping stations serving large irrigated areas;
- reliable water delivery to irrigated land;
- reduction of electricity consumption for water lifting;
- creation of modern maintenance capacity;
- strengthening the human resources of the sector.
